SportCo is built to keep buying and selling straightforward and low-risk. Here’s what’s built in, and a few things worth knowing yourself.
No in-person meet-ups
SportCo is postal-only — there’s no local collection or meeting up with strangers to hand over cash. Every item is posted, tracked, and paid for through the platform, which removes one of the biggest risks on other secondhand marketplaces entirely.
Your payment is held until you’re happy
Money never goes straight from buyer to seller. SportCo holds payment until delivery is confirmed, so a seller can’t just take your money and disappear — see Buyer Protection for the full details.
Keep everything on SportCo
Use SportCo’s built-in messaging to talk with buyers or sellers, and pay only through SportCo’s checkout — never outside the platform. If someone asks you to pay by bank transfer, cash app, or any method outside SportCo, that’s a red flag: it bypasses Buyer Protection entirely, and we won’t be able to help if something goes wrong.
Listings are graded, not guesswork
Every listing goes through our AI listing tool and a structured condition grade, so what you’re buying is described consistently rather than left to the seller’s own wording. If an item doesn’t match its listing, that’s exactly what Buyer Protection is there for.
Reviews build trust over time
After a completed order, buyers and sellers can leave each other a review. It’s worth checking a seller’s reviews before you buy, and leaving your own once an order’s done — genuine feedback from real transactions is one of the best ways the community keeps itself accountable.
Encrypted payments
All payments on SportCo are processed through Stripe, one of the world’s largest payment providers. Your card details are encrypted and never seen or stored by SportCo directly.
Protecting your own information
- Never share your password, card details, or full address outside of SportCo’s own checkout and messaging
- SportCo will never ask you to confirm your password by email or message
- Use a strong, unique password for your account

Spotting a scam
Most scam attempts follow a similar pattern — watch for:
- Being asked to pay outside SportCo’s checkout
- Prices that seem too good to be true for the condition described
- Pressure to act quickly or skip the normal checkout process
- Requests for personal information unrelated to a purchase
